Career Coaching

In 2020, Katherine Spearing successfully transitioned from vocational ministry into the corporate world. She is a firm believer that we have more transferrable skills than we realize when we go from one career to another. Spearing has helped a number of people prep their resume to highlight their gifts and potential. She’s also helped job hunters negotiate their salary with at least one client who increased their starting offer by 25%.

Spearing still claims hiring a career coach in her late twenties was one of the best investments she ever made into her present and future career. After escaping a cult that left her ill-equipped to write a resume or show up in an interview, she didn’t know what a cover letter was and had never heard of informational interviewing.

Because of the support of a career coach, she landed an enviable position during grad school and graduated with a job offer from an organization in Washington DC, when many of her classmates struggle to find employment. Today, as someone who has been on the hiring side of multiple organizations, she knows what employers are looking for and can help provide insider information on the job hunting process.

As a survivor of cult abuse and church abuse, Spearing understands that trauma can cause unforeseen barriers to career advancement rarely (if ever) addressed in traditional career coaching. Considering most hiring managers are uninformed in how trauma might show up in an interview context, she knows survivors with trauma will need extra support on their career journey.

I highly recommend Katherine Spearing as a trauma-informed career coach. She played a pivotal role in helping me discover my next career steps by actively listening to my career aspirations while making me feel truly heard and understood. Her guidance was not only insightful but also practical, providing me with concrete steps to achieve my goals. Katherine’s expertise in trauma and career coaching along with her empathetic approach make her an invaluable resource for anyone seeking career guidance and personal growth.
