Presence (a poem)

I am grateful for this breath.

this breath

this breath I breathe

for the last time

and this breath

will never come again

I get to breathe this breath

from beginning to end

from end to beginning

of a new breath

one long inhale,

or short

or shaky,

one full exhale

I am grateful for this breath

I breathe.
