I used to cook for my family of nine

As part of my family of origin’s regimen to train me and my four sisters to be wives and mothers, we were enlisted to help manage the household duties.

At one point, this included me shopping, meal-prepping, and cooking for my entire family of nine.

Present day, this experience is part of why I believe if one partner stays home and manages the house and kids, they should receive a salary from the other partner. This is extremely arduous, difficult work. If you hired a chef to do it for you, it would cost several thousand dollars a week.

I digress.

I find it funny that most of my current friends have no idea I know how to cook. I’m actually a very good cook, with a special skill for cooking for large quantities of people. They’ve just never seen me do it, because I rarely cook anymore. This has been an intentional choice to align my life with my current values.

I’d rather spend my time building businesses and working my various jobs than standing in the kitchen. But because of my study of trauma, I know nutrition is a crucial part of the healing and restoration process. I also want to give myself quality of life as I age, and food is a big part of that.

I shopped around for dozens of different meal kits. Unfortunately, most of them still require you to cook.

Then I found Metabolic Meals. I’ve been using them weekly for over a year now, and I am so incredibly grateful.

They make it easy to hit my protein and carb goals. And as someone officially in perimenopause, that matters a lot right now.

There’s also a bar code on the front of the package so I can scan the meals right into my fitness app.

The meals are organic, gluten-free, and most contain vegetables alongside a solid ratio of carbs and protein.

These meals help me honor two things that matter to me:

  1. Giving my body the fuel it needs to keep healing and aging well.

  2. Giving myself the chance to focus on what’s important in my life and business, instead of spending hours in the kitchen meal-prepping or planning.
