Encouraging Notes Are Extra Special

This is one of my favorite notes that I have received during my support-raising phase of the journey. Peter and his wife Sally Ann are long-time family friends. Peter would always warn me and my sisters (when we were much younger) to “avoid members of the opposite kind.” But he would always warn us with a twinkle in his eye that said he expected us to do anything but avoid boys.

I love that he continued the tradition is this letter:

Dear Katherine,

Thank you so much for including us in your missionary mailing! We are thrilled that you can do this and will be praying for a healthy and successful trip….

(Avoid young Latin men, however! Very charming however, so Take Warning)

God bless you! And love to you and all the family. Please keep us in your mailings.
