If I could have chosen the way I wanted my last weekend to go before heading to Mexico, I would have chosen exactly what happened this weekend. It’s amazing how knowing something is the last time makes it even more special.
I walked around Bridgstreet on Saturday, even though it was sweltering, with a few friends. I spent Sunday afternoon at the pool with the same friends and some siblings. I enjoyed my last Sunday at church and am glad I love my church and my community so much that I’m actually going to miss them.
I just wanted to chill my last weekend. And gratefully I have friends and family who just want to chill with me. As the days crunch down to the last, my list of things to do is getting longer. But I’m also getting more excited. Really excited.
Man, if it’s hot in Alabama, how hot is it going to be in Mexico? No worries, I have that taken care of—I got some waterproof mascara so now I’m ready for the heat. Need to add some antiperspirant deodorant to the list (even though that stuff really doesn’t seem to work very well). Along with the dry shampoo (which I’m sure every woman in the world knew about but me until a few weeks ago) and 30SPF sunscreen, I’d say we’ve got the essentials down.
Sounds like I’m going on a cruise, not spending a few months doing mission work.
Oh, and I got to meet my new nephew, Jude Aaron (see photo below). That was one plus to leaving a few weeks later than I had originally planned.
Ah, what a great weekend. 5 more days and I’ll be on a plane to Mexico. I have a 5-hour layover on Saturday morning so I’m going to try and catch up with people over the phone…and tweet about all the interesting people in the airports.
Enjoy the following quote and stay tuned for more updates from Monterrey!
